Tuxedo Terms for Grooms
BOSTON, MA, February 9, 2004 - With
popular vacation destinations like the Caribbean, Mexico or
Europe, cruising has become a favorite way for married couples
to spend their honeymoon. But if you've never cruised before,
you might be unsure of what to pack. Although daytime dress
is casual; clothing on board is dressy on some cruise lines,
particularly on formal night. "Traditional cruises" which
have pre-assigned dinner times and table mates and formal nights
require men to wear suits or tuxedos and women to wear pantsuits
or cocktail dresses. Some adult only cruises offer a Valentine's
night or Captain's cocktail party or ball where black tie would
also be appropriate to wear.
But what constitutes black tie dress and what is appropriate
to wear? Bill Tzizik, CEO, Classic Tuxedo Inc. suggests these
guidelines: “An event which is “black tie,” requires
you to dress formally. Black is still the favorite color choice
for tuxedo jackets. Two, three and four- button, single-breasted
notch jackets by designers like Matteo Maas, Monsieur Givenchy
and Claiborne continue to be popular choices. But for spring
and summer cruises or for cruises in tropical climates, an
alternative to the black tuxedo is the dinner jacket. A white
or ivory single- breasted shawl collar dinner jacket has a
breezy feel and looks great. Pair it with a white or ivory
shirt, formal trousers that feature a plain non-pleat flat
front, black satin fullback vest and traditional bow tie for
an enviable look."
Tuxedo rentals are usually available for one day, but retailers like Classic
Tuxedo offer extended wedding honeymoon rental periods of 7 to 10 days at no
additional cost to the groom. This enables you to conveniently return your tuxedo
when you get home from your trip. Industry wide, retailers will also provide
two shirts in a travel tuxedo package that allows you to change the look of your
formal wardrobe if you’ll be wearing the tuxedo for more than one occasion.
So don't forget, when you’re planning your honeymoon cruise, remember the
formalwear.
