Look
as Well as you Live
Start a Holiday Tradition - Celebrate Formally
BOSTON, MA,
September 24, 2003 - The holidays are here again. It's a time
to entertain with sparkling, dramatic
tablescapes
and festively wrapped gifts. But it's also a time to add a
little sparkle to your wardrobe. There's no question that a
man looks hot in a tuxedo and a woman glamorous in a gown,
but besides your wedding day or a few black tie corporate galas,
how often do you get to get all dolled up? How about starting
a tradition of your own this year. Celebrate the holidays in
black tie. By adding the words "black tie" to your
party invitation, you have taken the first step to look as
well as you live.
But what is appropriate for a man to wear when the invitation
says ”black tie?” Although the clothing industry
is trendy, there are some definite rules. Bill Tzizik, President
of Classic Tuxedo, suggests these guidelines: “If an
invitation reads “black tie optional” or “black
tie invited,” you can expect a nice affair and there
will be people attending in tuxedos. Your host is leaving
it up to you to dress formally or not. If your invitation
reads “black tie preferred,” your host is suggesting
that you dress formal and hoping you do, but you can make
that decision and he won’t be offended if you don’t.
Any invitation that has the words “black tie" requires
you to dress formal. “White tie” requires you
to dress in evening tails. White tie is the ultimate in formal
dress for men.”
To achieve a look that's right for you and to assure that renting
or purchasing your formalwear is not a worry, patronize a
respectable shop. Companies that are active within a professional
organization, are voted "Best of" by consumers
and local magazines, and that offer in-store inventory as
opposed to just fabric swatches are far more likely to offer
good service, quality products and reliability.
Once you've selected your formalwear specialist, it's easy
to put together a look that's simply stylish. Black tuxedos
are still the favorite color choice. Multi-buttton styles
with single-breasted closures and satin notch lapel designs
from designers like Monsieur Givenchy are a popular trend.
Dare to add some dazzle to the holiday wardrobe? The Barrington
from Chaps by Ralph Lauren is platinum in color and would
be a sure stand out at any party. And if you're looking for
a style that is uniquely yours and has a perfect fit, made-to-measure
tuxedos by Matteo Maas are available at retailers like Classic
Tuxedo.
To pump up the style quotient of your tuxedo, add a formal
laydown or wing collar shirt, fullback, high-button front vest,
and neckwear. Bow ties are still the most traditional neckwear
but you can also choose a euro tie (similar to a necktie but
features a fancy wrapped knot and an adjustable band that wraps
around the neck) for fresh look. Collar enhancers (a satin
band worn around the neck with a button cover attached) or
a solitaire jewelry button cover available in gold, silver
and rhinestone can add pizzazz. Formal matte finish, box toe
tip shoes with lace-up closures are the perfect finishing touch.
Get decked out in a tuxedo for your next holiday party and
show your impeccable flair for formalwear. Start a new holiday
tradition to look as well as you live.
