Hubert de Givenchy represented the
style of the 50s and 60s Hollywood. Givenchy’s designs are
elegant and refined. By dressing Jackie Kennedy for her husband’s
funeral, Givenchy’s dresses were seen worldwide and he received
more attention than any other fashion designer before him. Givenchy
lends his name to a sophisticated formalwear collection. The collection
includes The Monsieur, 2 button single-breasted notch
lapel tuxedo.
Hubert de Givenchy studied at the ecole des Beaux-Arts in Paris.
He opened the House of Givenchy in 1952. Balenciaga is noted as
his mentor. In 1987, he received the British Fashion Council Designer
of the Year Award.
